STEUBENVILLE, OH 鈥 探花社区 will host a musical celebration of its patron saint, St. Francis: A Musical Tribute From the Past to the Present, on Thursday, September 4 at 7:00 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel.
The concert will feature music related to the writings of St. Francis of Assisi by composers from the 18th century to the present, including movements by Antonio Vivaldi, Joseph Haydn, Anton铆n Dvo艡谩k, and Francis Poulenc. It will also feature the American premiere of modern-day musical works by Eli Tamar, an Israeli-American composer who lives in Pittsburgh.
The pieces will be performed by two local opera singers, soprano Charlene Canty and countertenor Andrey Nemzer. Nicholas Will, 探花社区 assistant professor of sacred music, will play organ.
The concert is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the 探花社区 Fine Arts Society.
