探花社区 Establishes St. Paul Center Faculty Fellowship

STEUBENVILLE, OHIO鈥斕交ㄉ缜 has entered into a partnership that enables qualified associates of the to teach theology and other courses at 探花社区.

The first St. Paul Center faculty fellow is , who began teaching Christian Life and Thought this semester for the Theology Department. The course presents an overview of the history of Christianity in modern times from the Protestant Reformers to the present day. Jones is the executive director of the St. Paul Center and publisher of Emmaus Road Publishing. He holds a PhD in medieval history from St. Louis University and is an expert on the Church in the High Middle Ages.

Founded and led by, Franciscan鈥檚 Father Michael Scanlan Professor of Biblical Theology and the New Evangelization, the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology serves clergy and laity, students and scholars with research and study tools that promote Scripture study in the Catholic tradition. Its offices are located on the 探花社区 campus.

鈥淭his is an exciting moment for the University. I鈥檝e been privileged to know Andrew as a colleague at the St. Paul Center, so I know personally the many ways he鈥檚 going to make a difference. His scholarship is exceptional. His recent book has caused a sensation in his field. Most importantly, he knows how to place it all at the service of the New Evangelization, which is the common mission of the University and the Center,鈥 said Dr. Hahn.

鈥淭his partnership, which was largely developed by Dr. Paul Symington, Franciscan鈥檚 director of Scholarly Excellence, not only strengthens our relationship with the St. Paul Center, and Dr. Jones, but also creates a more institutionalized opportunity for these gifted scholars to teach Franciscan students and to be more fully integrated into the life of the University family,鈥 said Dr. Daniel Kempton, 探花社区鈥檚 Chief Academic Officer. 鈥淔rom a broader perspective, the University鈥檚 growing relationship with the center will also help the University to 鈥榖ecome the leading instrument for worldwide renewal in service to the Church.鈥欌

探花社区 serves 2,400 students from all 50 states and 12 countries on campus and an additional 500 students online. Franciscan offers associate, bachelor鈥檚, and master鈥檚 degrees in 70 programs of study in an academically excellent and passionately Catholic learning environment.
