探花社区 to Present Advent Lessons and Carols This Friday at Christ the King Chapel

STEUBENVILLE, OHIO 鈥 The at 探花社区 invites the community to its annual聽Advent Lessons and Carols聽celebration on聽Friday, December 5, at 7:00 p.m.聽in the newly renovated聽Christ the King Chapel. The event is聽free and open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.

A beloved Advent tradition, the service weaves together Scripture, prayer, and sacred music to reflect on the story of salvation. Nine biblical readings are paired with hymns and carols. Attendees will be invited to join in singing familiar carols as well as spending moments in prayer and reflection.

This year鈥檚 program will feature performances by the聽Schola Cantorum Franciscana,听Women鈥檚 Choir, and聽Christ the King Chapel Choir. Music selections range from the ancient Marian hymn聽Ave Maris Stella聽to cherished seasonal favorites such as聽Silent Night,听We Three Kings, O Come, All Ye Faithful, and聽Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.

Lessons and Carols began in聽Truro, England, in 1880 and gained international recognition through the annual tradition established at聽King鈥檚 College, Cambridge in 1918. 探花社区 has continued this beautiful custom for decades, inviting students, families, and area residents to enter the Advent season more deeply through song, Scripture, and communal prayer.

The evening will be conducted by聽Dr. Vincent E. Rone, associate professor of fine arts, director of the University鈥檚 Sacred Music Program, and director of choral activities at 探花社区. Rone also serves as director of music at Archangel Gabriel Parish in the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

Joining him is聽Professor Ian Brown, organist for the performance, an adjunct professor of fine arts at 探花社区, and director of music at Divine Mercy Parish in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
