STEUBENVILLE, OHIO —Two high school seniors are now proud members of ̽������’s Class of 2018, thanks to full-tuition academic scholarships for the duration of their studies at the school.

Sarah Brumley and Julien Tosques were chosen from among 76 candidates from 31 states during the Father Michael Scanlan Scholarship Competition held on February 13 and 14.

Participants in this prestigious invitation-only competition came from ̽������’s top tier of academically qualified students admitted for fall 2014 and included candidates from the top high schools in the nation. The competition required students to write an essay, be interviewed by a panel of faculty, staff, and religious, and participate in a group activity.

Brumley, a native of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, will graduate in May from George Washington High School. She plans to double major in pre-catechetics and marketing.

Tosques is from Yorba Linda, California. He will graduate in May from Yorba Linda High School and plans to triple major in theology, pre-catechetics, and philosophy.

This four-year scholarship’s namesake is President Emeritus Father Michael Scanlan, TOR, who served as president of ̽������ for 26 years and was instrumental in revitalizing the Catholic identity of the school.
